Stranded at Sea: Dogs Rescued from Penang Bridge Transmission Tower

 

 

GEORGE TOWN, March 8 — A dramatic rescue unfolded off the waters of the Penang Bridge on Saturday morning when two dogs were found stranded on a transmission tower rising from the sea.

 

The animals had been trapped on a monopole tower owned by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), located near the P7 section of the bridge’s power infrastructure.

 

According to Central Seberang Perai Civil Defence Force district officer Capt Mohd Fadhil Fahmi Zaini, the agency received a distress call at 9.53am reporting the stranded animals.

 

A five-man rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene, arriving at approximately 10.15am to assess the situation.

 

“The team carried out the rescue operation with assistance from the Marine Police and nearby fishermen,” Mohd Fadhil said.

 

Working carefully around the narrow tower structure and the surrounding waters, rescuers managed to reach the frightened animals and secure them safely.

 

The operation concluded at 11.12am, with both dogs successfully brought down from the tower and transported to safety.

 

Authorities believe the dogs may have been abandoned on the monopole structure, though the circumstances surrounding how they ended up there remain unclear.

 

The successful rescue highlights the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies and members of the local fishing community, whose quick response helped ensure the animals were safely retrieved from the isolated tower in the middle of the sea.
