Malaysian Federation of the Deaf (MFD)
The Malaysian Federation of the Deaf (MFD) is the national non-governmental organisation (NGO) representing the Deaf community in Malaysia. Established in 1978, MFD serves as the official voice advocating for the rights, welfare, education, and employment opportunities of Deaf individuals.

MFD also plays a vital role in promoting Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia (BIM) as the official language of the Deaf community, providing sign language interpreter training, and developing nationwide inclusive awareness programmes. The organisation works closely with the government, other NGOs, and international bodies such as the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) to ensure the Deaf community has full access to information, services, and human rights.

MFD’s motto: “Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities.”
